Creative Date Ideas

1. Have a romantic meal on the beach and build a sandcastle together.
2. Have a progressive meal

     Directions: Select different restaurants around town and go to each one. Order drinks at one, appetizers at another, go somewhere new for the main course, and top it off with your favorite desert in town.

1. Run through the sprinklers, have a waterballoon fight and make a slip n' slide.
2. Make a tent together with blankets, eat dinner inside, make mini smores with mini marshmellows, candles, chocolate chips and cinnamon toast crunch pieces, sing camp songs and tell camp stories.
3. Make food, listen to music, learn a dance, and play games from a foreign country
4. Make a music video
5. Sing Kareoke
6. Write a scene in a movie and then film each other acting it out
7.  Story time--take turns recording pieces of a story. Directions: One person starts recording a story, while the other leaves the room, ending their segment with "and then..." the other person picks up telling the next part of the story, and ends their segment with "and then..." this continues until someone decides to tell "The end".
8. Make a time capsule to put in a park or just your own backyard full of pictures and objects that represent your relationship and then dig it up for a big anniversary.
9. Have breakfast for dinner in bed

Making Art out of Nature

The other day I walked by a mother and daughter glueing different rocks, sticks, and flowers together to form a sculpture and thought it was the cutest idea. This would be a fun afternoon activity. Let your kids scavenger around for cool things in nature and then have them create something using those things. I can't wait to do it!

 

Family Olympics

Bismarck and I just thought of an idea that we would like to do with our family every Summer once our kids are old enough. We just finished watching the 2012 Olympics and thought it would be fun to do our own family olympics each summer. Some of the events could include: Wacky Six, ping pong, running, long jump, arm wrestling, Settlers of Catan, etc... We would give metals and use it as an opportunity to teach good sportsmanship. Of course before I can teach that, I have to learn it myself! Hahaha! I'm excited to do this one day!

Learning Activities

I think it would be fun to pick a topic to learn about each week in the summer with your kids. You could go to the library and check out a bunch of picture books to read. Then you could do discovery activities. For example, if your topic of the week was "bugs" you could go bug hunting outside and perhaps even collect a few. You could also make butterfly nets, do fun bug artwork, watch bugs life, and even dress up like bugs for the day and eat bug food (yummy food made to look like bug food)
